Abstract:
Secondary metabolites (SM) produced by filamentous fungi have been extensively applied in biomedicine, biological control, food, and other fields. The biosynthesis of most SMs is closely associated with the catalysis of non-ribosome peptide synthetase (NRPS), therefore the expression regulation of NRPS is crucial for SM biosynthesis. In order to further understand the expression regulation patterns of
NRPS gene clusters in filamentous fungi, herein, the research progresses on the transcription factors regulating NRPS-mediated SM production are reviewed, of which both pathway-specific transcription factors and global transcription factors are individually descripted. The summarization is hoped to deepen the comprehension of NRPS-mediated SMs production regulated by transcription factors and provide a reference for development of natural products in filamentous fungi in the future.
