Abstract:
The total flavonoids content ( TFC) , total polyphenoliccontent ( TPC) , chemical composition and antioxidant activity of the different solvent extracts of Artemisia sphaerocephala Krasch seeds were investigated. The results showed that the TFC and TPC were correlated with the polarity of solvents used here, the methanol extracts was showed to contain the highest level of TFC ( 33.30 ± 0.11) mg/gand TPC ( 80.1 ± 0.16) mg/g which followed by acetone, ethyl acetate and chloroform extracts.Furthermore, the methanol extracts was the most potent DPPH and ABTS radical-scavenger, the inhibitory concentration 50% ( IC50) were 19.09, 26.30 μg/m L, respectively. The ferric reducing activity of the methanol extracts was also higher than the other three extracts. Meanwhile, both quercetin and catechin were validated by HPLC in the methanol extracts with higher content of 5.15, 28.24 mg/g, respectively. In short, methanol is suitable for the total polyphenolic and flavonoids extraction from seeds of A.sphaerocephala Krasch, and the extracts might be a valuable antioxidant resource.
