Abstract:
The present study was conducted to investigate the combination effects of astaxanthin(AX) combined with vitamin E on reversing acute alcohol-induced oxidative stress in rats. Total 50 male Wistar rats were selected and randomly divided into control group(n=10),model group(n=10),AX group(n=10,0.6 g·kg-1·d-1),V_E group(n=10,0.2 g·kg~(-1)·d~(-1)) and AXVE(0.3,0.1 g·kg~(-1)·d~(-1)) group(n=10). Following a 30 consecutive with antioxidative drugs treatment, model group,AX group,V_E group and AXVE group(n=10) oral received a single dose of alcohol(12 m L·kg~(-1)) 12 hours after the last treatment. Anti-oxidative indices of serum and organs samples were collected and detected 6 hour after alcohol treatment. In comparison with model group,AX,V_E and the combination reagents of AX and VEenhanced the activities of the total anti-oxidative capacity(T-AOC),glutathione(GSH),superoxide dismutase(SOD),glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px) from serum, heart, liver and kidney samples, while inhibited the malondialdehyde( MDA) levels in the serum, heart, liver and kidney, with a predominant effects of complex treatment. The findings indicated that compared to treatment of AX or V_E alone,AX combined with V_E together mitigated oxidative damage effectively which induced by acute alcohol exposure. It might due to the synergistic actions of AX combined with V_E.
