Abstract:
Objective:This study was aim to investigate the preventive and therapeutic effects of aloe polysaccharide(AG)combined with tea polyphenol(TP)on alcoholic liver injury. Methods:Aloe polysaccharide was extracted from aloe gel powder. C57BL/6 mice were used as animal model, and the mice were fed with 42%vol alcohol for 4 weeks and a high dose of 50%vol alcohol for 1 days, which induced the alcoholic liver injury. In addition, the liver index and serum biochemical index, liver biochemical index and pathological changes in mice were measured. Finally, the effect of AG,TP and AG combined TP were compared. Results:Compared with the control group, the liver index, serum total cholesterol(TC),triglyceride(TG),alanine aminotransferase(ALT)and alanine aminotransferase(AST)activities in the model group were significantly higher than those in the control group. The activity of glutathione(GSH),superoxide dismutase(SOD),glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px)were decreased significantly while malondialdehyde(MDA)increased significantly. The levels of tumor necrosis factor
α(TNF-
α)and interleukin-6(IL-6)were also significantly increased, and HE staining showed obvious inflammatory infiltration and vacuolar degeneration of hepatocytes. AG&TP could significantly(
P<0.05)improve the oxidative injury, inflammatory response and liver morphological changes induced by alcohol compared with AG or TP. Conclusion:Aloe polysaccharide combined with tea polyphenol could effectively alleviate alcoholic liver injury and its effect was more significant than single component.
