Abstract:
Polyphenols is one of the most important functional components in walnut, mainly include phenolic acids and condensed tannins. A variety of biological activities of walnut polyphenols have been reported in recent studies, such as antioxidant, neuroprotective, hypolipidemic, hypoglycemic, anticancer, antibacterial and antiviral activities. These activities have a great prospect in development and application. The chemistry and biological activities of walnut polyphenols were summarized in this review, which may provide a theoretical basis for the further development and utilization of walnut polyphenols.
