Abstract:
Ferrous gluconate has a good effect on food fortification, many international organizations and countries have ratified it as fortifier in nutritional supplements, food and nutrition for special purposes, the application in food fortification.The safety of ferrous gluconate and its main technical requirements are described in detail by the FAO/WHO Joint Expert Committee on Food Additives ( JECFA) . In the use of ferrous gluconate, the national requirements are basically the same, most allow the application as a food coloring agent and food supplements. In the terms of quality and technical indicators, different countries have similar requirements. However, In the national food safety standard, the indictors including the main content, loss on drying, sulfates and the total arsenic were strictly limited according to the actual condition of Chinese products.In this paper, the regulations and standards of ferrous gluconate at domestic and overseas are overviewed, provide an important basis for the revision with a view to ferrous gluconate standard, and promote the development of technology of ferrous gluconate industry, in line with the international market, to meet the needs of domestic and foreign trade.
