Abstract:
Extracts were prepared from Ilex kudingcha C.J.Tseng by 80% ethanol, and followed by liquid-liquid extraction with petroleum ether, ethyl acetate, n-butanol, and water, respectively. The hypolipidemic activities of the four extracts were investigated with a model of hyperlipidemia in rats. Results showed that the yields of these four solvent extracts were of 1.83%, 1.65%, 6.49%, and 6.97%, respectively. The hypolipidemic results showed that the four solvent extracts could ameliorate the symptoms of hyperlipidemia to some extent, including decreased the body weight gaining, and decreased the serum levels of TC, TG and LDL-C.Especially, the petroleum ether component significantly ( p < 0.05) decreased body weight and the serum levels of TC, TG and LDL-C in high fat diet-induced hyperlipidemia rats. These results suggested that bioactive extracts derived from Ilex kudingcha C.J. Tseng might had an important role in modulating hyperlipidemia and provided theoretical evidences for exploiting healthy food of Ilex kudingcha C.J.Tseng.
