Abstract:
A polyphenols-rich extract from Korean pine cone lamella after the preliminary purification was further purified by Sephadex LH-20 gel chromatography, and high purified polyphenol ( HPP) which purity reached 95.86% was obtained. In order to estimate the capacity of HPP to act as antioxidants, its DPPH radical, ABTS radical, hydroxyl radical scavenging activity, ferric ions ( Fe3 +) and cupric ions ( Cu2 +) reducing ability, ferrous ions ( Fe2 +) chelating activity, yelk peroxidation inhibiting effect were studied. HPP was found to exhibit remarkable scavenging activity on DPPH· ( IC 50 20.48μg /mL) , ABTS+· ( IC 50 86.59μg /mL) , OH· ( IC 50 0.45mg /mL) , as well as a high and dose-dependent Fe3 +, Cu2 +reducing power. Moreover, it possessed good chelating activity ( IC 50 2.14mg /mL) and yelk peroxidation inhibiting effect ( IC 50 0.33mg /mL) .
