Abstract:
Objective:To study the protective effects of Eicosapentaenoic Acid Phosphatidylcholine (EPA-PC) on kidney of diabetic rats induced by Streptozocin (STZ) .Methods:Diabetes mellitus induced by STZ were administered by different dosages of EPA-PC (25 mg/kg, 75 mg/kg) by stomach perfusion, for 8 weeks. At the end of the experiment, the indices including the changes of the levels of fasting blood glucose, Oral glucose tolerance, the renal index, the 24h urine volume, the levels of BUN in plasma, the excretion of protein, mAlb, BUN, UA and NAG in urine were determined. Results:The EPA-PC showed remarkable hypoglycemic effected on Oral glucose tolerance of diabetic rats (p<0.05) , and decreased the renal protein, mAlb, UA and NAG in urine had reduced significantly (p<0.01) .Conclusion:EPA-PC can effectively improve the kidney function in diabetic rats.
