Abstract

Objective:In order to develop the value of pomegranate seeds and determine the antioxidant activity difference of crude-extracted fluid and purified liquid. Methods:In this paper,the pomegranate seed polyphenols were extracted and purified by organic solvent. Through ABTS method,pyrogallol autoxidation method,Fenton method and DPPH method were used to determine the radical-scavenging ability of pomegranate seed polyphenols. The results showed that both the crude-extracted fluid and purified liquid had strong ability to scavenge ABTS and DPPH free radicals,while weak in scavenging superoxide anion radical and hydroxyl radical. The IC₅₀ values of crude-extracted fluid scavenging ABTS and DPPH free radicals were 37.13,191.82 μg/mL respectively. And that of purified liquid were 29.11,143.26 μg/mL,respectively. The ability of purified liquid to scavenging ABTS free radicals,hydroxyl radicals and DPPH free radical were stronger than crude-extracted fluid.
