Effects of Ginseng Oligopeptide on Blood Glucose and Immune Regulation in the Aging db/db Mice

  • Objective:To assess the effects of Ginseng oligopeptide on inflammatory cytokines and oxidative stress in the aging db/db mice. Method:db/db mice were randomly divided into the elderly model control group, the positive control group, and the ginseng oligopeptide intervention group. db/m mice were taken as the normal control group, and young db/db mice fed until 35 weeks old were taken as the young model control group. Fasting blood glucose, glucose tolerance, inflammatory response and oxidative stress were measured during and after the intervention. Results:Ginseng oligopeptide could significantly reduce fasting blood glucose in db/db mice at 70 weeks (P<0.05), and the peak of blood glucose and AUC in ginseng oligopeptide intervention group were lower than those in the elderly model control, the positive control and the young model control groups. The level of Il-6 (412.61±12.18 pg/L) in the ginseng oligopeptide intervention group was lower than that in the normal control group (476.50±30.00 pg/L), and significantly lower than that in the elderly model control group (P<0.05). SOD and GSH-Px levels in the normal control group, the ginseng oligopeptide intervention group, the positive control group and the young model control group were all significantly higher than those in the elderly model control group (P<0.05). Conclusion:Ginseng oligopeptide could improve glycemic glucose and glucose tolerance in aging db/db mice to some extent, and its possible mechanism is reducing inflammatory factors and improving oxidative stress in mice, and regulating in its immunity.
