Modification and Application of Cellulose

  • Cellulose is a natural widely available,biodegradable,and renewable polymer. It is great difficult to dissolve cellulose due to it owning massive intramolecular hydrogen bonds. Cellulose modification can improve its solubility,thereby being an important method to promote cellulose application. The techniques to modify cellulose and a few novel modified celluloses including cellulose ester,cellulose ether,grafted cellulose,etc. are reviewed. Hopefully,this review will become a significant reference for cellulose modification and promote cellulose to be utilized with a higher value.
