Effects of Insoluble Dietary Fiber from Wild Apricot Flesh on Intestinal Function and Intestinal Flora of Mice

  • To study the effects of insoluble dietary fiber from wild apricot(IDFWA)on moistening intestines and defecating and intestinal flora,KM mice were used as experimental subjects, and the constipation model was established by using diphenoxylate. The intestinal propulsion rate, the first defecation time, the first row of blue stool time and the 6 h defecation amount were taken as indicators to investigate the laxative effect of IDFWA. IDFWA was on oral tests in mice at low, medium and high doses(0.6,1.2,2.4 mg/(g·d))for 14 d. The fresh feces of mice were collected for culturing, identificating and counting microbial to examine the effects of IDFWA on the intestinal flora. The results showed that each dose of IDFWA could increase the intestinal propulsion rate(P<0.05). It could reduce the first defecation time(P<0.05)and the first sputum discharge time(P<0.01). The medium and high doses of IDFWA could increase the total mass of defecation in rats at 6 h(P<0.05). The low dose of IDFWA could inhibit Escherichia coli(P<0.01). Staphylococcus aureus was inhibited by each dose of IDFWA without statistically significant. Medium and high doses of IDFWA could promote Lactobacillus(P<0.05),and each dose could promote Bifidobacterium(P<0.05). It indicated that IDFWA could improve intestinal function and regulate intestinal flora of mice.
