Optimization of Encapsulation Process of Perilla Essential Oil Microcapsule Powder

  • In order to make the color,aroma and biological activity of perilla essential oil more durable,this study used octenyl succinate as the wall material and perilla essential oil as the core material to prepare perilla essential oil microcapsule powder by spray drying. The effects of essential oil purity,wall material quality score,wall-core ratio and homogenization time on the embedding rate of Perilla essential oil were studied. On the basis of single-factor experiments,a quadratic polynomial regression equation of the forecasting model was set up by using Box-Behnken design of response surface methodology. The results showed that the optimal process conditions of microcapsule powder of perilla essential oil were as follows:the purity of perilla essential oil was 81%,the wall material quality score was 20%,the wall-to-core ratio was 3:1,and the embedding rate was 80.19% under these conditions. Perila essential oil powder prepared by spray drying method has high embedding rate,simple and convenient operation,and is suitable for large-scale production.
