Effect of 1-month-old Infant Fecal Microflora on In Vitro Fermentation of Five Non-digestible Polysaccharides

  • The fermentation effect of 1-month-old infant fecal microflora on five kinds of non-digested polysaccharides:oligofructose, galactooligosaccharide, xylooligosaccharide, inulin and polydextrose, were strdied through in vitro fcrementation. The characteristics of main microorganisms of zymotic fluid after fermentation were analyzed by real-time fluorescent quantitative PCR. The lactic acid and short-chain fatty acids formed after fermentation were analyzed by high performance liquid chromatography. The results of qPCR amplification showed that oligofructose significantly promoted the growth of Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus and inhibited the proliferation of Clostridium(P<0.05),the ratio of to the blank group was 1.12,1.07,0.92,respectively. Oligosaccharide galactose significantly inhibited the proliferation of Enterobacter(P<0.05),and the ratio to the blank group was 0.98. Xylo-oligosaccharide significantly reduced the content of Enterococcus(P<0.05),and the ratio to the blank group was 0.97. The chromatographic results showed that the lactic acid, acetic acid and butyric acid produced by the fermentation of oligofructose were the highest, the content was 23.00,11.10,1.47 mmol/L,and total content of lactic acid and short chain fatty acid was also the highest, the content was 40.03 mmol/L. The xylo-oligosaccharide fermentation broth had the highest propionic acid content of 5.35 mmol/L. The results showed that oligofructose was the best choice for promoting the health of intestinal flora in infants of one-month-old by comprehensively comparing the ability of five non-digestible sugars to promote the probiotics in the feces of one-month-old infants and to produce beneficial metabolites. When attempting to regulate infant intestinal flora by non-digesting polysaccharides,it should be noted that the choice of food factors is different from that of adults.
