Study on Mechanism of Oviductus Ranae Promoting Estrogen

  • To research the effect of Oviductus Ranae(OR)on sexual organs and hormone levels in normal and ovariectomized rats and to explore the mechanism of sex hormone promotion. Ovariectomized rats were prepared and randomly divided into castrate control group and castrate+OR group. Normal rats were divided into normal control group and normal+OR group. Rats in castrate+OR group and normal+OR group were given OR by gavage for 4 weeks. All the rats were anaesthetized 1 hour after the last intragastric administraton,and blood was taken from aorta abdominalis. The serum was separated for the determination of the content of 6 indicators of sex hormones. The ovary(normal rats)and uterus were taken for histopathological examination after weighing. The result showed that the serum estradiol and testosterone of normal rats were significantly increased after taking OR(P<0.05),and ovarian pathological examination discovered the phenomenon that had corpus luteum to increase. The serum testosterone and prolactin of castrate rats were significantly increased after taking OR(P<0.05),and uterine pathological examination discovered the thickness of endometrial epithelial cells increased significantly(P<0.05). Conclusion:Oviductus Ranae has some effects of exogenous estrogen,but the main mechanism of promoting estrogen may be similar to that of gonadotropin.
