Research Progress on the Anticancer Mechanism of Tea Polyphenol and EGCG Nanocarrier Technology

  • Tea polyphenol is one of the important functional components in tea. Among them, epigallocatechin gallate(EGCG)has the highest activity. Many studies have shown that tea polyphenol represented by EGCG played a safe and effective inhibitory role in the prevention and treatment of cancer. Due to the limited stability of tea polyphenol at physiological pH and low bioavailability,it restricts its application in modern treatment. Studies have shown that nanocarrier technology can greatly improve the stability and bioavailability of tea polyphenol, and make it show strong anticancer activity. In this paper, the anticancer mechanism of EGCG in tea polyphenol and the research progress of EGCG nanocarrier technology were reviewed, which provided a reference for the application of tea polyphenol in cancer prevention and treatment.
