Screening of Lactic Acid Bacteria with Potential Hypoglycemic Effect

  • Compared with the commercial strain Lactobacillus rhamnosus LGG,strains with good α-glucosidase inhibition rate and gastrointestinal resistance were screened from laboratory-preserved lactic acid bacteria. The results showed that, there were 4 strains of Lactobacillus plantarum YDA11,OD1,OD2 and YDB24 with higher α-glucosidase inhibition rates among 36 strains of lactic acid bacteria, and their inhibition rates were 28.37%,30.26%,30.26% and 33.18% separately. These inhibition rates were not significantly different with LGG strain(p>0.05). In addition,the(-amylase inhibition rates of strains OD1 and OD2 were 30.84% and 35.17%,which were significantly higher than LGG(p<0.05). In the acid-tolerant experiment, strain YDB24 and strain OD2 showed better acid resistance. After 8 h of acidic environment at pH2.5,their survival rates were 96.01% and 96.83%. In the bile salt test, the comprehensive tolerance of strain OD2 was the strongest, whose survival rate after stress in 0.3% bile salt MRS broth was 94.81%. The survival rates of strain OD2 in simulated succus gastricus and succus entericus were 94.22% and 79.99%,respectively. In conclusion,Lactobacillus plantarum OD2 was screened as a potential hypoglycemic strain with good gastrointestinal resistance.
