Antioxidant and Enzyme Inhibitory Activities of Lavandula angustifolia Mill. Extracts

  • The antioxidant activity and enzyme inhibitory activities(acetylcholinesterase, butyrylcholinesterase, tyrosinase)of different extracts from Lavandula angustifolia Mill were investigated. The antioxidant activity of 50 simples obtained by HPLC was determined by four methods, namely DPPH,FRAP,total antioxidant capacity and reducing power assay. The results showed that the sample 26#,27#,35#,36# showed higher antioxidant capacities. All the sample displayed a different degrees of cholinesterase inhibitory. The sample 16#,18#,19#,20#,24#,37# showed higher inhibition rate of acetylcholinesterase(ACHE). The sample 24#,25#,39#,43#,46# showed a low inhibition rate of butyrylcholinesterase(BUCHE).The inhibitory activity of diphenol oxidase in tyrosinase was found significantly higher than those of monophenol oxidase in tyrosinase. The sample 16#,17#,18#,19#,20# showed a high inhibition rate of tyrosinase. Lavandula angustifolia Mill. could provide a potential natural source of bioactive compounds and could be beneficial to the human health, especially in the neurodegenerative disorders and as sources of natural antioxidant in food industry.
