Analysis of Nutrient Elements in Xinjiang Walnut and its Offspring Nuts

  • Inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry were used to determine the content of 12 mineral elements (P, K, Ca, Mg, Na, Si, Fe, B, Mn, Cu, Zn, Se) in the nuts of Xinjiang Wen 185, Xinxin No. 2 walnut varieties and offspring nuts and it was evaluated by correlation and principal component analysis. The results showed that the total contents of 12 mineral elements in ‘Wen 185’ and ‘Xinxin 2’ walnut nuts were 1115.29 and 933.59 mg/100 g, respectively, with the highest content of P and the lowest content of Se. The contents of P in Wen 185 and offspring walnut kernels were 563.24 and 608.54 mg/100 g, respectively. The contents of P in Xinxin 2 and their offspring were 386.96 and 439.28 mg/100 g, respectively, indicating that P was the main mineral element in walnut kernel. Correlation analysis showed that there was a significant positive correlation between K and Mg in the seed of Wen 185 walnut (p<0.01).There was a significant positive correlation between Zn and Cu in the seed of Xinxin No.2 walnut (p<0.01). Comprehensive consideration, taking the parent as the control, and exceeding the high nutritional value of the parent as the index for screening the excellent strain, it can be concluded that ‘Bei1-10’, ‘Bei 1-11’, ‘Bei3-13’, ‘Bei4-16’, ‘Bei6-9’, ‘Bei6-11’;’Zhong 1-11’, ‘Zhong 2-12’, ‘Zhong 3-11’, ‘Zhong 4-12’, ‘Zhong 5-9’, ‘Zhong 6-11’ can be considered as superior strains, and can be used as functional food development of walnut fruit suitable variety. There are relatively rich mineral elements in the seedlings of Wen 185 and Xinxin No. 2, which provide a good germplasm resource for the selective of breeding of varieties, especially high-level nutrients.
