Research Progress of Establishing Cellular Oxidative Stress Model

  • Cellular model is one of the effective methods to study the oxidative stress damage and mechanism in the body, and to evaluate and screen effective antioxidants. Plenty of researches have explored the antioxidant activity and mechanism of phytochemicals by using cellular model. Based on the study objective, there are varieties of cell lines and stress sources to choose, but it is lack of a unified standard and few studies have summarized the method. Thus, this paper introduced the method used for establishing cellular oxidative stress model from the aspects of selecting cells and stress sources, and possible biomarkers of cellular model. The stress sources were categorized by chemistry, physics and biology. This review aimed to provide references for screening and evaluating the antioxidant activity of antioxidants, and exploring the mechanism of oxidative stress damage.
