Study on Chemical Constituents of Licorice Sweeteners

  • Objective:The chemical constituents of licorice sweeteners which were the by-products after glycyrrhizic acid extracted were stuided to ascertain the chemical constituents of licorice sweeteners, widen its application scope and provide a scientific basis for evaluating the biological activity of the chemical components. Methods:The chemical constituents of licorice sweeteners were separated and purified by solvent extraction, medium pressure preparative chromatography and recycling preparation liquid chromatography. Meanwhile, NMR methods were employed to identify their structures. Results:Ten compounds were isolated and identified as p-hydroxybenic acid, Liquiritigenin-7, 4'-diglucoside, Liquiritigenin-apiosyl (1→2) glucoside, Licuraside, Isoliquiritin, Liquiritigenin, Isoliquiritigenin, Formononetin, Liquiritin, Echinatin.Conclusion, The method can separate 10 components and widen the application range of by-products.
