Research Progress of the Crotenoids from Lycium L.

  • Goji(Lycium L.)is a traditional edible herb. Modern studies have shown that Goji and its extracts have significant preventive and therapeutic effects on many diseases,such as oxidative damage,age-related macular degeneration,liver injury and so on,and the carotenoids is one of its main efficacy compounds. In this paper,botanical metabolism,functions,separation and extraction,and processing development of carotenoids in Goji were reviewed,and the futher research for the carotenoids in Goji was discussed.
