Ameliorate Effect of Fractions of Schisandra chinensis Acidic Polysaccharide on Acute Alcoholic Liver Injury in Mice

  • Objective:To study the ameliorations of the fractions of Schisandra chinensis polysaccharide-2(SCAP-2)on the acute liver injury induced by alcohol in mice. Methods:An acute liver injury model was established by giving 12 mL/kg·bw 50% alcohol to mice. Fifty mice were randomly divided into normal control group, model group, and low-dose SCAP-2(5 mg/kg·bw),middle-dose SCAP-2(10 mg/kg·bw)and high-dose SCAP-2(20 mg/kg·bw)groups. The activities of lanine amino-transferase(ALT),aspartate amino-transferase(AST),and superoxide dismutase(SOD),as well as the contents of malondialdehyde(MDA)in the serum of mice were measured. MDA,triglyceride(TG)contents and SOD activities in the liver tissue were tested. HE staining was performed to observe pathological changes of the liver tissue. Results:Compared with the model group,high-dose SCAP-2 could significantly decrease the activities of ALT and AST in the serum(p<0.05),increase the SOD activities(p<0.05)and reduce the MDA contents in the serum and liver tissue(p<0.05),reduce the TG(p<0.05)content in the liver tissue(p<0.01),and improve the pathological changes of the liver. Conclusions:SCAP-2 had a protective effect on the acute alcoholic liver injury in mice.
