Research progress on the detection methods of flavonols in plants

  • Flavonols is a group of bioactive factors that is closely related to human health and an important kind of secondary metabolites that determines the formation of color, taste and flavor of plant derived foods. The qualitative and quantitative analysis of flavonols is of great importance to the quality control and safety evaluation of its related products. But the numerous varieties and the complex structures of flavonol glycosides in plants make its detection and analysis very difficult. Therefore, understanding the latest research progress on the detection methods of plant flavonols is of great significance to the improvement of the existing detection methods and development of new detection methods. In this paper, the latest research progress on the detection methods of plant flavonols at home and abroad was reviewed. The working mechanism, advantages and disadvantages of each detection method were analyzed. The existing problems in this research field were pointed out and the follow-up research trend were forecasted. In order to provide theoretical basis and technical support for the detection and analysis of flavonoids in plants.
