Research progress on toxicological effects and mechanism of bisphenol S

  • Bisphenol S(BPS),an environmental endocrine disruptor,had been the most common alternative to bisphenol A and was widely used in manufacturing of food packaging containers and other plastic products. It was found that BPS also had a negative impact on the body,therefore its application safety had drawn more and more attention. In this paper,the human exposure risk and pollution situation in food of BPS were summarized. Moreover,the general toxicity of BPS and effects on gene material,reproductive development,neuroendocrine,substance metabolism,circulatory and immune systems,as well as its mechanism of action were reviewed,which would provide a theoretical basis for evaluation of the health hazard and environmental risk of BPS.
