Protective effects of Nano-Selenium/platycodon polysaccharides complex on CCl4-induced Liver Damage in Mice

  • Using platycodon Polysaccharide and Na2SeO3 as raw materials, the complex containing nano-selenium and platycodon polysaccharide was prepared by reduction method by virtue of vitamin C as reductant. The mice model with injury liver induced by CCl4 was founded. By detection of biochemical indicator of blood serum, malondialdehyde(MDA)content and glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px)activity in liver tissue, the liver index was calculated. According to the histopathological changes in liver, the protective effect of nano-selenium/platycodon polysaccharide complex on liver injury induced by CCl4 in mice was evaluated. The results indicated that alanine aminotransferase(ALT), aspartate aminotransferase(AST)and alkaline phosphatase(ALP)in the serum of mice were lower than those of the control group. Total protein(TP)and albumin(ALB)levels was observed to increase in varying degrees. At the same time, The activity of glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px)in the tissues significantly increased, while the content of malondialdehyde(MDA)decreased in different degrees. For medication group, it was shown by pathological sections that SePP can protect liver cells from damage by CCl4 chemicals. It was confirmed that the complex containing nano-selenium and platycodon presented stronger protective effect on liver injury induced by CCl4 in mice than that of platycodon polysaccharide. It paves a way to the development of new selenium containing liver protecting drugs.
