Determination of folic acid in sports drinks by UPLC-MS/MS

  • This paper used ultra high performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry analysis method to establish a method in the analysis of folic acid in sports drink.After the sample was treated with 10% ethanol to extraction, the separation of targeted compound was performed on a T3 chromatographic column ( 2.1 mm × 150 mm, 3 μm) using 10.0% methanol-0.1% formic acid as mobile phase combined with ultra performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry instrumentation.The linear range of folic acid was in the range of 2.0100.0 ng/mL with a correlation coefficient of 0.9992.The result showed that the detection limit was 1.0 μg/kg and the quantitative limit was 3.0 μg/kg.The recovery rate was 91.9% 96.0%, and the relative standard deviation ( RSD) was 2.6% 3.2%.The method has the advantages of simple pretreatment, high sensitivity and fast detection rate, and is suitable for determination of folic acid in a wide range for sports drinks, and can provide reference for its analysis.
