Optimization of calcium acetate extraction process from procambarus clarkia shell by response surface methodology

  • In this paper, for further application of clarkia shell resource, the calcium was extracted from procambarus clarkia by acetic acid inquiring the four factors such as extraction temperature, acid concentration, the reaction time, liquid to solid into the extraction yield of calcium acetate.Based on the single factor experiments, the influence of the variables and their interaction on the impact on the extraction yield of calcium acetate was studied by response surface methodology. The results showed that the effect order of the factors on the extraction yield of calcium acetate from shrimp shell was: liquid to solid, temperature, concentration of acetic acid, and the time. The optimum extraction conditions were as follows: acid concentration 73.60 g/L, the reaction time 3 h, extraction temperature 65 ℃, liquid to solid 11.60 ∶ 1 ( m L/g) and the most calcium extraction rate was20.45%.The present method gives an acceptable yield and improved quality of calcium acetate. And this study could be helpful for the production or manufacture of calcium acetate based on shrimp shell as calcium resources.
