Antioxidant effects of polysaccharides from Thelephora ganbajun in mice with acute alcoholic injury

  • Objective: To research the protective effiect of dry fungus polysaccharides ( refined polysaccharide from Thelephora ganbajun, RPTG) on acute alcohol injury to the heart, spleen and kidney of mice. Methods: Dry fungus polysaccharides were gained after hot water extraction assisted by the ultrasonic as well as deproteinization. The mice were randomly divided into groups as follows: normal control group, model group, positive control group and RPTG groups to establish the mouse model of acute liver injury. The mice heart, spleen and kidney were removed to determine superoxide dismutase ( superoxide dismutase, SOD) , malondialdehyde ( malondialdehyde, MDA) , glutathione ( glutathione, GSH) content, glutathione peroxidase ( glutathione peroxidase GSH-Px) and catalase activity ( catalase, CAT) . Results: Comparing with the model control group, RPTG groups in high, middle and low doses all can on the one hand remarkably or extremely remarkably enhance the GSH content and the SOD, GSH-Px, CAT activities ( p < 0.05 or p < 0.01) , as well as on the other hand significantly or extremely significantly reduce the MDA content ( p < 0.05 or p < 0.01) in the heart, spleen and kidney. Conclusion: RPTG has significant antioxidant effect on the heart, spleen and kidney of mice which suffer from alcoholic liver injury.
