Control effect of cumin essential oils on three stored-product insects

  • The stored-product insects were vital factor for safety of grain storage. Sitophilus zeamais, Rhizopertha dominica, Cryptolestes pusillus were treated with cumin essential oils ( CEO) , which were extracted by water distillation method. The toxicity of repellency, fumigant and contact of CEO against three stored-product adult insects were tested as well as LC50 and LT50 of fumigant toxicity were determined. The result indicated that the control effects of CEO against three kinds of insects were different.C.pusillus was more susceptible on repellency and fumigant than other two insects, however, R. dominica showed the most susceptible on contact toxicity.
