Structural characterization and in vitro antioxidant activities of a neutral polysaccharide from Allium macrostemon Bunge

  • By using the method of stepwise ethanol precipitation and column chromatography, a neutral polysaccharide named AMP60 N was isolated from Allium macrostemon Bunge.The molecular weight of AMP60 N was estimated to be 11200 u, which was composed of arabinose, glucose and galactose. AMP60 N was characterized by using the periodic acid oxidation, Smith degradation, methylation, FT-IR, GC, GC-MS, NMR, etc.The in vitro antioxidant assay of AMP60 N showed that it had certain antioxidant activities in vitro, which showed dose-effect relationship, oxidation vesistance was weaker than VC.
