Identification of Lepidium meyenii(Maca)and its derived products with PCR method

  • According to the defensin gene sequences of Lepidium meyenii,a pair of specific primers of Lepidium meyenii was designed and a novel method for detection of Lepidium meyenii-origin genes was established.Based on the species-specificity and sensitivity testing,the designed Lepidium meyenii primer was of good species-specific and the novel method was of high sensitivity,with 0.1 ng/mL of DNA sensitivity and 0.1% of weight sensitivity,respectively. Using this method combining with the detection of rappini-origin genes,21 samples of Lepidium meyenii and its manufactured goods from the market were randomly measured.The results showed that all the samples contained the Lepidium meyenii-origin genes,but not the rappiniorigin genes. The PCR method established in this study was rapid,accurate,efficient and suitable for the identification of Lepidium meyenii and its manufactured goods from the market.
