Hepatoprotective effects of mannose on immunological liver injury in mice

  • Objective: The hepatoprotective effects of mannose and possible mechanism were researched on BCG /LPS- induced immunological liver injury in mice.Method: Mice were divided into four groups, namely control, model and two mannose- treated groups.BCG and LPS were used to induce the immunity hepatic injury model of mice in the experiment.Blood, liver and organs were sampled for detection of biochemical and immunological index, and the pathological changes of liver. Results: Compared with the model group, high dose of mannose makes spleen index and thymus index significantly decreased( p < 0.05),and in serum the activities of ALT/ AST significantly have been reduced.Meantime, content of MDA / NO / TNF-α / IL-β are also significantly lower( p < 0.05),while SOD and CAT activities observably increase( p < 0.05). Low dose of mannose had some improvement, but it was not significant. Conclusion: Mannose had hepatoprotective effects against BCG / LPS- induced liver damage in mice.
