Progress in processing and storaging technologies of Antarctic krill (Euphausia superba) powder

  • Antarctic krill( Euphausia superb) likely has the largest biomass of any multi- cellular animal species on earth and is paid more attention for its large biomass and potential value in recent years. Antarctic krill powder is one of the two main onboard processing products. The development of processing and storage technologies of Antarctic krill powder was reviewed in this paper.Firstly,the development of the modified processing technologies of Antarctic krill powder was introduced.Then an analysis of the processing and storage technologies effect on the nutritional and quality characteristics of Antarctic krill powder was made.The safety and application of Antarctic krill powder was also evaluated. In conclusion,the advance of processing and storage technologies of Antarctic krill powder in domestic and abroad were summarized in this paper. In the end,the direction of processing and utilization of Antarctic krill powder and its prospect was supposed.
