Review on quantitative analysis for monosaccharides and oligosaccharides

  • Monosaccharides and oligosaccharides are usually soluble sugars, playing an important role in the energy storing and medium transferring. In addition, monosaccharides and oligosaccharides can act as structure materials and functional molecules such as ligands of glycoprotein. Therefore, the quantitative analysis of monosaccharides and oligosaccharides was very important to the life sciences, food science, medical science, agricultural science and other fields. In this paper, the references published inferring in the quantitative analysis of monosaccharides and oligosaccharides recently were tracked and collected, especially those main methods such as high performance liquid chromatography, capillary electrophoresis, gas chromatography, and high performance anion exchange chromatography for analysis application in the field of food, vegetables, fruits and medicines were systematically reviewed, and the high performance liquid chromatography- evaporative light scattering was advised after analyzing and concluding, which will provide certain basis in the quantitative analysis of monosaccharides and oligosaccharides in the future.
