Protection of zinc- rich oyster powder against alcohol- induced liver injury in mice

  • The protective effects of zinc- rich oyster powder( ZROP) against alcohol- induced liver damage in mice were investigated.ICR mice were orally fed with detected samples.The activities of aspartate transaminase( AST),alanine aminotransferase( ALT),and galactosyl glucosyltransferase( GGT) in serum and glutathione peroxidase( GSH-Px),superoxide dismutase( SOD) and hydrogen peroxidase( CAT) in liver were detected. The content of Malondialdehyde( MDA) in liver was also measured. The liver tissue pathological change was also observed. The results showed that ZROP could significantly decrease the activities of AST,ALT,and GGT in serum( p < 0.05) and increase the activities of GSH- Px,SOD,and CAT in liver( p < 0.05).The content of MDA in liver was also decreased( p < 0.05).Compared with the model group the pathological change in liver of each ZROP group was significantly enhanced.The results suggest that zinc- rich oyster powder had a protective effect on alcohol- induced liver injury in mice.
