Toxicological study on compound capsule of epimedium and psoraleae

Acute toxicity test in mice,genetic toxicity tests( Ames test,micronucleus test of bone marrow and sperm abnormality in mice),and 30- days feeding test in rats were conducted to study toxicity of compound capsule of epimedium and psoraleae.The results showed that the MTD of the tested sample to the female and male mice were more than 20.0 g / kg·bw,so compound capsule of epimedium and psoraleae was no toxicity. Ames test,bone marrow micronucleus test and sperm abnormality test in mice were all negative.In 30- day feeding test,all groups of rats of different doses grew well,hematology indexes,blood biochemistry indexes,main organ coefficient and histopathological examination were all normal. It was concluded that compound capsule of epimedium and psoraleae was safe under the test dose.
