Structural analysis and antioxidant activities of polysaccharides from the fruiting bodies of Pleurotus ferulae Lenzi

  • A polysaccharide fraction PFLPs was isolated and purified from the fruiting body of Pleurotus ferulae Lenzi. The chemical structure, chain conformation and antioxidant activities of PFLPs were investigated. The results indicated that PFLPs was mainly composed of Rhamnose,Xylose,Mannose,Glucose and Galactose with a molar ration of 1 ∶1.26 ∶0.85 ∶12.4 ∶4.31,and indicated the presence of β-D-glucan in the PFLPs. The chain conformation analysis showed that PFLPs was a triple helical polysaccharide. The antioxidant activity test in vitro revealed that PFLPs exhibited high DPPH radical,ABTS+radical and hydroxyl radical scavenging activities, moderate superoxide radical scavenging activities, reducing power and Fe~(2+) chelating activities. The results suggested that PFLPs could be used as a potential natural antioxidant.
