Simultaneous determination of 23 elements in linden honey by microwave digestion- inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry method

  • The determination of 23 elements including B,Na,Mg,P,K,Ca,V,Cr,Mn,Fe,Co,Ni,Cu,Zn,Ga,As,Rb,Sr,Mo,Cd,Ba,Pb and U in linden honey, which is characteristic of honey in northeast China, was studied by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry( ICP- MS) using microwave digestion for sample preparation. The recoveries for spiked honey samples were in the range of 86.5% ~109.8%.The method was validated by analyzing the National Standard Reference Material of Spinach( GBW10015) and Tea( GBW10016),which obtained the relative standard deviation values of repeatability( n = 3) and reproducibility( n = 5) were 0.3% ~ 8.7% and 1.2% ~10.4%,respectively.Ten linden honey samples collected in different sites from Jilin province were studied by this method.Among the 23 elements,K was abundant in linden honey,As,Cd and Pb were lower than relevant limit requirements. Furthermore, the element fingerprint of linden honey from Jilin province was established, which showed that various samples presented common features and could provide a basis for the identification of linden honey.
