Analysis of phthalates in liquid food by ionic liquid dispersive liquid- liquid microextraction- high performance liquid chromatography

  • A method for the detection of PAEs contaminant in liquid food simulation system by using ionic liquid dispersive liquid- liquid microextraction in combination with the high performance liquid chromatography was established. The distilled water, 3% acetic acid aqueous solution and 10% aqueous ethanol were adopted as the simulation systems representing for aqueous, acidic and alcohol containing food respectively. The ionic liquid1- butyl-3- methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate ( BMIMPF6) was used as extracting agent and methanol as dispersive agent to extract the PAEs in the samples. With the final concentration of dibutyl phthalate ( DBP) as goal, the extraction conditions including the volume of the extraction solvent, the volume of the dispersing agent, the extraction time and the centrifugation time were optimized. A standard addition recovery experiment was conducted with the mentioned three simulation food system. The recovery rate was between 79% ~ 112% and the relative standard deviation between 2% ~ 6% with 0.02 mg of standard PAEs addition. The established methods were proved accurate and reliable, which can be used for the detection of PAEs residues in liquid food.
