Effect of Prinsepia utilis tea on blood lipids in hyperlipidemic mice

  • Objective: To study the effect of Prinsepia utilis tea on blood lipid in mouse model of hyperlipidemia.Method: The hyperlipidemia mouse model was induced by high fat diet successfully and the mice were randomly divided into blank group, model group, low ( 2g / kg·bw) , middle ( 6g / kg·bw) , high ( 9g / kg·bw) dose group of Prinsepia utilis tea and positive in group. After treatment of 28 d by gastric gavage, serum total cholesefol ( TC) , riglyceride ( TG) , high density lipoprotein cholesterol ( HDL- C) and low density lipoprotein cholesterol ( LDL- C) levels were measured by automatic biochemical analyzer, liver index was calculated.Result: Serum TG and LDL- C in Prinsepia utilis tea groups were notably lower than model group ( p < 0.05) ; serum TC, HDL- C, weight increase and liver index were significantly lower than model group ( p < 0.01) , LDL- C in high dose group was significantly lower than model group ( p < 0.01) .Weight increase in Prinsepia utilis tea groups were lower than blank group, low and middle dose group was significantly lower than blank group ( p < 0.01) , high dose group were notably lower than blank group ( p < 0.05) , liver index in model group was notably higher than blank group ( p < 0.05) .Compared each Prinsepia utilis tea group with model group, TC, TG, LDL- C, HDL- C, weight increase and liver index were not significantly different.Conclusion: Prinsepia utilis tea has weight relief and evident hypolipemia effect.
