Photooxidation of arsenate(III) with Bi VO_4 in rice suspensions

  • The photooxidation of monoclinic Bi VO4 on trivalent arsenic( As( III)) in rice suspensions was studied.Bi VO4 was synthesized through hydrothermal method,and its crystalline phases was analyzed by X- ray diffraction( XRD) and its morphologies was examined by field emission scanning electron microscope( FESEM). Then the synthesized monoclinic Bi VO4 were used to photooxidize As( III) in rice suspensions.The results indicated that the removal ration of As( III) was up to 99.8% : 86% of them were oxidized to pentavalent arsenic( As( V)),and the rest were absorbed by Bi VO4.Photooxidation parameters were optimized : Bi VO4 of 2.6mmol / L synthesized at p H2 was effective to photooxidize 1% rice suspensions contain 100 ppb As( III) in alkaline solution.
