The methods of GFAAS and ICP- MS for determination of Cr in medicinal hollow capsules were established. The samples were digested by microwave digestion comparing the two methods at the same time.The recoveries varied from 96.4% to 105.6%, and the relative standard deviations were less than 5.7%.The correlation coefficients for the standard curves of the two methods were greater than 0.999 with the detection limits of 0.083μg·L-1and 0.030μg·L-1respectively. The ICP-MS method was more simple and practical with time saving and high efficiency.
