Study on extraction process of carotenoids from artemia cysts

  • The methods of papain broken and organic solvent extraction were used for carotenoids extraction from artemia cysts. Effects of single factors including enzyme pH value, temperature, enzyme addition, enzyme time and solvent for the extraction were investigated by single factor and orthogonal test. The results showed that the optimal conditions of extraction were as following:adjusting the papain pH to 6, adding enzyme 375U/g, enzymolysis 25 min under 60℃, using acetone of 30mL/g. Under these conditions, the extraction rate of carotenoids extracted from artemia cysts was 0.03mg/g.
