Experimental study on ethanol subsiding method from Mactra veneriformis on acute hepatic injury induced by carbon tetrachloride in mice

  • Objective:The effect of ethanol subsiding method from Mactra veneriformis (MS) was studied by carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) -induced liver injury in mice. Methods:Blood tissue samples were collection. Evaluations were made for lipid peroxidation, enzyme activities and biochemical parameters. Pathological histology was also performed. Results :MS pretreatment reduced the serum aspartate aminotransferase (ALT) , alanine aminotransferase (AST) , and reduced glutathione activities. By contrast, MS pretreatment reduced liver MDA content and increased liver tissue SOD. The CCl4-induced histopathological changes were also reduced by the MS pretreatment. Conclusion:MS could be proposed to protect the liver damage induced by CCl4.
