Determination of substitution degree of N-Alkyl Chitosan by Acid-Base Conductometric Titration

  • The sample of N-Alkyl Chitosan was dissolved in excess HCl which then was titrated by standard NaOH. The change of conductivity of N-Alkyl Chitosan in the acid-base titration was studied. The conductivity of the solution was detected and the substitution degree of N-Alkyl Chitosan was calculated.The RSD of the method was 1.37%.The substitution degree had no significant difference when the conditions of the experiment were changed ( p >0.05) .The method was easy, accurate, reliable with good repeatability.
