Acute toxicity evaluation of banana flower and its extracts

  • Acute toxicity of banana flower (Musa spp., Baxijiao and Musa spp., Paradisiaca) and its extracts was evaluated, through once large dose feeding samples and observing the rapid toxicity effect on the KM mice. The test of acute toxicity according to guidance for technology:acute toxicity for traditional Chinese drug and natural drug. Mice were fed by intragastric administration once, after that was fed normal. Then the symptom of mice were observed and recorded in the next 14d. Results showed that there was no evident poisoning symptom or death for mice after test on the mice of different sex, which had eaten these samples with 5g/kg.
