Research of the hygienic safety of urea-formaldehyde resin in contact with food

  • For understanding the hygienic safety of urea-formaldehyde resin tableware in contact with food, the migration quantity of formaldehyde, the evaporation residue, the heavy metal and organism in food simulants were determined and valuated in accordance with different national standards. The result of the detection indicated that the formaldehyde migration and the evaporation residue was the biggest in acidic food analog. In the same food stimulant, they increased with the contact time and temperature. There were no other hazardous substance except heavy metal Zn. Urea-formaldehyde resin products could be used in contact with dry food, or non-acidic food at low temperatures (≤60℃) .
