Effects of high levels of DHA/EPA fish oil triglyceride type on the lipid metabolism in fatty liver rats

  • To investigate the effect of high levels of DHA/EPA fish oil triglyceride type on the lipid metabolism in fatty liver rats.Fatty Liver Wistar rats were randomly divided into normal control group, model control group, positive control group, ethyl ester control group (EE control group) , low levels of DHA/EPA triglyceride control group (TG control group) , high levels of DHA/EPA triglyceride (DHA/EPA-TG) groups in low, medium and high dosage. The fatty liver model rat was induced by feeding a diet containing 1% orotic acid. After 20d treatment, the indexes followed were examined, such as the contents of TC and TG of serum;the contents of TC, TG and fatty acid of liver, contents of total lipid and TC of fecal. Results showed that high levels of DHA/EPA fish oil triglyceride type observably decreased the contents of serum TC and TG, significantly caused a reduction of TC (p<0.01) , TG (p<0.01) levels and an improvement of fatty acid forms in liver and remarkably increased total lipid (p<0.01) and TC (p<0.01) levels in fecal. The above result suggested that the high level of DHA/EPA fish oil triglyceride type could improve the disturbance of lipid metabolism on fatty liver rats.
